This Is Antwerp invited 12 internationals to Discover Antwerp Through Experience, in short to go on a D.A.T.E. with Antwerp from the 3rd until the 8th of November. We’ll show them the best hidden secrets, jaunt the hottest places, survive workshops together, enjoy the finest meals and much more. But most important they will meet that one important thing that fuels Antwerp to be the dynamic city that it is today: creative people.

This is how D.A.T.E. rolls

We promised you to keep you updated about our D.A.T.E.. But we’ll keep it short because our locals will also cover (almost) every D.A.T.E. workshop. We will post all their blogs the day after.  So keep an eye out for them.

We started the day nice and gentle. We didn't really make any plans for our guests because we believe one of the best ways to explore a city is simply strolling down the streets and discover the couleur locale.

We met at Graanmarkt 13 for lunch. We're not exaggerating when we say everyone - and we literally mean everyone- had a food orgasm. We all left the restaurant with a huge smile on our face. Even thinking about it makes us smile again. It's that good.

Afterwards our group split up. One part met up with wood artist/designer Nick Bal at his workshop and the other ones enjoyed a demo with the awesome illustrator Jangojim at AB Hostel. You can find the results of this crazy workshop tomorrow on your favorite blog.

Tonight we're joining Zsuzsanna Toth at her Freunde von Freunden book launch at the Copyright bookstore.

Tomorrow's program

We can summarize tomorrow's program in three words: off the hook.

Antwerp is a very diverse city. It's not any different when it comes down to its creative minds. That's why we decided to offer our guests different options.

Option 1: a creative work out at the open screen printing workshop CTRL COPY.

Option 2: an initiation by the craftsmen of Collectif d'Anvers

Option 3: a fashion tour and a guided visit of Belmodo Fashion Days

Option 4: a guided tour in the beautiful fashion museum MoMu

Option 5: a visit at the coolest taxidermist shop Steen en Been

Option 6: sit down with the talented jewelry designer Leen Boden.

As true Belgians we're treating our D.A.T.E.'s with authentic Belgian fries. For dinner we're going to Het Bos, a cultural house for artists, handymen, makers, thinkers and all other creative minds.

More!

Don’t worry, you don’t have to miss a thing. We asked our This Is Antwerp locals to cover most of the workshops for you. So keep an eye out for our blog or follow us on Twitter, Facebook or Instagram!
